This time next week…

25 Jul

…we’ll be on a plane crossing the pond!  I seriously can’t believe how quickly time is flying right now- and believe me, we’re feeling the rush!  Between trying to get everything- the house, the business, the yard (as many of you know, we have one helluva yard!), the pups, our families, our friends, and most importantly- my brain!- ready for this impending adventure, we are about pooped!  A side note for those of you who don’t know this about me, but I am the quintessential creature of habit- as a rule of thumb, I hate change.  Of any kind…always have.  Proof?  I remember crying on the last day of 1st Grade because I hated the idea of the next day not involving the usual, ‘Arrive at Pinewood at 7:45a, wait for bell to ring at 8a so we could stand and say The Pledge, dive into Social Studies, etc…’  Nope, the idea of sleeping in a little later and being dropped off at camp to do who knows what scared the crap outta me.  It’s definitely safe to say that all of life’s little milestones have been slightly more magnified for me and that some things never change!  Our Germany move?  Definitely no exception 🙂

On the flip side, I’m enjoying doing what I do best- planning ahead and making lists.  I’ve even been carrying around a little notebook so that all my lists can be found in one, simple location.  Things To Do Before We Leave, Things To Do The Morning Of Departure, Things To Buy For New Apartment, Grocery List For Germany, Appointments Before We Go (these include vet visits for the pups that have to be done within 7 days of departure, a trip to the USDA in Columbia to have said vet paperwork stamped within 48 hours of said vet visits, a staff meeting with my AWESOME chicas who’ll be holding down the LPS front while I’m gone…)  You get the idea.  And in true Thomas Family fashion, what kind of week would it be with all work and no play?!  So we’ve also added in birthday festivities for our best friend, Anderson (Happy 31st, old man!), some good meals with some of John’s family who are coincidentally in town for a beach week, pedicures with my mom (we’ve been enjoying weekly GNO/GDOs- Girls Night/Day Out- all summer long)…Oh, and to culminate, our 6 year anniversary- remember what I said about time flying?!  Jeez!- is Saturday 🙂

So there ya have it!  Thomas, Party of 4 is officially in final countdown mode…let the packing (in several GINORMOUS- I’m talking 48″ long- duffel bags!) begin!!
