This time TOMORROW…

31 Jul

…the pups and I will be over the Atlantic Ocean en route to Stuttgart!  Yikes!  Does anyone else ever wonder why sometimes it takes forever for a said event to occur (take the month of December, for instance, that seems to move slower than the checkout line at Target before finally arriving at the best day of the year, Christmas Eve!  No, that’s not a typo, Yes, it’s my favorite day- the anticipation, the big meal with family, the homemade dessert at my grandmother’s house, the spending the night with my husband and my pups in my old room at my parents’ house…I digress…), yet other times fly by faster than my crazy Boston pup chasing an innocent bike rider?  Case in point, this past week in my world…OK, this whole past month, but honest and truly this past week!

So to summarize…All that I’d planned/hoped to get done has gotten done…and then some.  The pups did great at the vet, the USDA was a hassle that ended up involving 2 trips to Columbia (yes, the first ended up being a frustration, but it was definitely my favorite day of the week…the kind I’m already fretting about how I will do without for 3 months), but we’re now stamped and official, the LPS staff meeting went swimmingly, we threw a mini-birthday party for one of our best friends who then got all moved into the house (he’s being such a doll and holding down the fort while we’re away 🙂 ), we ate some delicious meals with good friends and family whom we’re going to miss a ton :(, Goddess (that’s what the pups call my mom 🙂 ) and I had some great Girlie Days, and to cap it all off, John and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary (back to that whole time flying thing!) with good ‘ol massages and cake.  Yep, true Thomas fashion!  Whew!  Even summarizing makes me tired!

So a quick ‘State of the Union…’  John is currently on a Delta plane somewhere nearing Amsterdam.  We didn’t get to fly together for two reasons…1. The government pays for his flight and therefore tells him which carrier and which flights he will take.  And more importantly 2. By getting there a day before the pups and me, he will go ahead and get our car and the keys to our apartment. Bright and early  Monday morning (my flight goes overnight), he will pick us up and take us ‘home.’ 🙂  I am FINALLY packed and ready to go (although I can’t go 5 minutes without thinking of something I ‘might need so should take.’ Ugh.)  My notebook of lists (Yes, I currently have 13 lists going.  Don’t judge.) is just about filled with check marks…The pups and I are on a direct flight from Charlotte, NC, so my parents will be taking us tomorrow afternoon.  And as crazy as it sounds, I’m actually glad that we’re not flying from Charleston- I’m really looking forward to spending, at least a few hours, as the original 3 Musketeers…

So, in my best Leisel Von Trapp, I bid y’all ‘Auf Wiedersehen!’  Next post from Stuttgart!
