We made it!!  John, me and our pups are officially European expatriates!  To finally be here- all of us, all in one piece, with all of our luggage- is such a weight lifted!

So picking up where we left off…Sunday was crazy.  That’s honestly the best word to describe it!  You all know me, I’m a creature of habit, of order…So I did my best to start the day as I always do- with a crack of dawn workout, followed by a shower and two bottles of water, then 3/4C of my favorite high fiber cereal with 5 oz. skim milk while watching re-runs of Saved by the Bell and Boy Meets World (yes, I was a child of the 80s and 90s 🙂 )…Then reality- that in just a few hours I’d be taking my pups and my bags and moving to Germany!- set back in…So the craziness of the last week resumed- finishing packing, folding the last load of laundry, unloading the last dishwasher run…Well, it didn’t take too much of that before it was time to load the car, pick up the folks, and head to Charlotte to catch our flight, direct to Munich.

Fast forward to the flight, I absolutely must do a quick shout out to Lufthansa Airlines- they are AWESOME!  From the friendly, helpful check-in desk people (they really helped ease my mind about traveling with my ‘kids!’) to the brand new airplane that carried us across the pond (it was HUGE and spotless and uber-modern- case in point, the bathrooms- about 10 of ’em!- were downstairs with standing room and drinks and peaceful mood lighting!) to the really great bilingual flight crew…

Oh, and to give you the mental picture…

Heading downstairs to the Bathroom Lounge...

Finally, the wheels touched down on German soil and I was on a mission like no other…to find my pups!  I may have the shortest legs of a person not considered a midget, but I tell you what, I was moving quick like and in a hurry!  Off the plane, up the entire concourse, through Customs, all the way to baggage claim.  I know the other people standing around the carousel had to think I was had drunk one too many Red Bulls as I was running from belt to belt searching for that big beautiful crate.  I’m serious, it was like a fat kid searching for cake.  I finally saw a special conveyor belt labeled ‘bulky baggage.’  BINGO.  No sooner had I gotten up to it when I saw my ‘kids’ slowly coming over the hump- then I heard Max’s unmistakeable muffled squeal of excitement.  It was a grand reunion, for sure.  I wrangled some innocent, non-English-speaking gentleman into helping me hoist the crate onto the rolly cart I had already wrestled from someone else, then waited patiently for my luggage (whilst just about every person in the area came up to talk to me about the pups…in German…*sigh*).  As soon as we got outside, I heard my name and a whistle, turned around and saw one fine-lookin’ man jogging toward me with a huge smile on his face and a cup of hot Earl Grey tea in his hand.  Oh wait, that’s my husband :).  I’m a lucky girl…

Oh, and here’s what he was whistling at…Ha!

Just call me She-Ra!

So, there you have it!  Our journey to Germany is behind us and the adventure has officially begun!  More on that later!
