Thomas Family Greek Vacation

8 May

Hello, y’all! First of all, thanks to all of you who have made the switch with me over to Treats, Travels and Truths! It’s so exciting for me to really get things rolling over there. But like I said, I want to keep this space as somewhere to continue sharing our personal pictures- the stuff that we want to share with our family and friends. And that’s just what I’m doing today. John’s brother, sister-in-law, niece and sister have all been here for the past couple of weeks and we decided to use a week of their visit to take on our latest adventure, Greece! What a wonderful place and what a fun, fun time we had exploring its capital, Athens, as well as two of its islands, Mykonos and Santorini. Over the next week or so, I’ll have several posts up on TT&T all about each of these spots and how we spent our time there so please be sure to stop by there to read up if you’re interested. But in the meantime, here’s our adventure as described by pretty pictures ❤

Legend has it that Poseidon (brother of Zeus) and Athena (daughter of Zeus) were fighting over the city when Athena cast her spear down and where it sparked, an olive tree grew. As a result, she won the city (thus its name) and Poseidon was given a smaller village nearby…This is the original olive tree from Athena’s spear…

I really can’t say enough good things about our time in Greece. Athens was terrific, the islands were terrific, the sunshine and the (mostly) warm temperatures were terrific, the food was terrific, the people were (mostly) terrific…Time most definitely flies when you’re having fun! Can’t wait to share more over on TreatsTravelsandTruths.com!

Thanks for following along!

Countdown to Vacation…

2 Sep

Hey, y’all!  No real news to report with this one, other than to let you know that I’ll be blogging from the South Pacific by this time next week!  That’s right, it’s just about time to make that dreaded 10-hour flight to one of our favorite tropical paradises on Earth…Hawaii. John’s been out there since this past weekend- work is going really smoothly (always a good thing!)- so it will be oh-so-lovely to see his sweet face come Labor Day!  A fun addition to this trip?  My folks are coming with!  The four of us really enjoy traveling together, so we thought what better place to squeeze in one last hoorah before Baby T makes his debut this winter, right?!  We’ll be gone 10 days, staying in Waikiki during the week and hopping over to Maui for the weekend- John and I loved our time there a few years ago and can’t wait to share it!  Life sure is tough 😉

Hmmm…what else can I update while we’re here…Well, by this time next week, I’ll officially be 5 months along- Woohoo!!  Yep, we’re in the middle of Week 19…And I don’t know about y’all, but it sure is feeling like time is creeping by slower than molasses to me!  No one tells you that about pregnancy- that it just drags on and on and on!  Although my mom says that she feels like time is flying- like we just found out we were having a baby and she can’t believe we’re practically halfway now!  At this point, I’ll have what she’s having! Ha!  So what are we doing to pass all this time? Well, we’ve been choosing a name (yep, he has a name now and I promise we’ll share it soon!) and working on the nursery (it’s coming along SO nicely and we can’t wait to share pictures when it’s all done!)  Just to give a little tease- it’s khaki, black and white with small ‘pops’ of orange… 🙂

Physically, yep, I definitely look pregnant now rather than just soft!  I call it my Al Bundy gut :).  I’m continuing to have more and more ‘good’ days than bad, so that’s a welcomed change.  Food is becoming more tolerable (*please note that ‘tolerable’ does not equate to ‘regularly enjoyable…’), the nausea beast is rearing its ugly head less often and I’m actually able to stay active all day on most days without having to lay down like a toddler after lunch. 🙂  My skin is finally being a bit more cooperative (although it could be because I’ve been diligent about finding products that help!) and my hair is growing at lightning speed (it’s closer to my waistband than to my bra strap now!  Jeez!)  And the boobs…Oh, the boobs…Let’s just say they’re definitely, definitely still here.  *Sigh*  As for the emotional side of things, well, I’ll save that for another post.  I think I’ll do a ‘Midway Musings’ post one day soon to talk about all that stuff…It should be a fun one 🙂  Oh, and I should add that John is being a real trooper- really, he’s just being so great about rolling with the pregnancy punches.  Maybe it’s just that his excitement trumps all else :).

18 1/2 weeks, headed to the Sheryl Crow concert...'All I wanna do is have some fun...' 🙂

Hope everyone has a FABULOUS Labor Day weekend and I’ll talk to you next week!  Thanks for joining us on our latest Hawaiian Adventure!
